Understanding a second language and another culture has never been more important in our ever-increasingly interconnected world. From day-trippers to global businesses, language skills are ever-present in our society. Employers in all sectors value candidates who can demonstrate language acquisition skills. Learning a foreign language helps us become more literate in our first language through the development of skills such as reading, listening and expressing ourselves clearly and concisely in both writing and speaking. Students will develop fluency, accuracy and confidence across all four language skills. Students learn how to comprehend and respond to diverse authentic spoken and written texts. The curriculum supports students to communicate spontaneously and interactively through participating in discussions, asking questions and continually refining pronunciation and intonation. Students produce varied texts for different audiences and purposes, applying a range of accurate grammatical structures.

Consolidation of learning, closing gaps and exam preparation.
Mock speaking exams will take place two weeks before the Easter break, with the final speaking exams occurring just after Easter.
