Homework
Why is Homework important?
Homework is an important part of our curriculum. It is a crucial tool in a student's educational journey, supporting our students to become resilient, self-disciplined, independent learners. Homework actively contributes to improving student progress and attainment by allowing students to practice skills, deepen their knowledge, and refine their skill application. The Education Endowment Foundation states that students that consistently complete homework make an additional five months progress across the school year.
Homework is also important in closing gaps in learning by reinforcing the knowledge and skills that students have learnt but not yet mastered. Specific revision tasks are set which are important in helping our students to recall and apply knowledge and skills so that they are able to make better progress. For students in Key Stage 4, homework also encompasses the completion of coursework units, within some subjects, which are vital components of their final GCSE qualifications.
The continuous practice of homework completion and reinforcement of learning ensures every student can reach their full potential.
